Do I need to get my panels cleaned?

Yes! Dirty panels can lose efficiency and reduce energy production. Regular maintenance helps protect your investment by identifying potential hazards before any issues occur.

Should I clean my panels myself?

DIY cleaning is possible, however it is safer to hire professionals with the proper equipment, solutions, water grade and safety measures to avoid damaging the panels or injuring yourself. MYP Green is a certified, licensed and insured provider which we pride ourselves with professionalism and high quality results. We use equipment and eco-friendly solutions that are specifically designed for solar panels. Afterwards, we rinse the pv system with high grade mineral-free deionized water to leave a squeaky clean shine.

How often should I get my solar panels cleaned?

The cleaning frequency depends on your location and environment. Generally, it's recommended to clean them at least twice a year. However, with our plans, we recommend to start with an annual routine and if needed increase frequency from there.

Doesn't rain clean the panels?

Rain can help remove some dirt, but it might not be enough for built-up grime like bird droppings and stubborn dirt which usually builds up around the bottom area of a panel. Additionally rainwater can be mixed with dust, pollen and minerals leaving behind deposits and streaks which reduces sunlight penetration. (Think about your car windshield glass. The same applies to solar pv systems)

What if I have a warranty on my solar panels?

Most solar installers do not offer solar panel maintenance services and is not covered through warranty. Our maintenance routine is for preventative purposes only and not repairs. It is solely designed to promote the longevity and peak performance of the system for its entire lifespan. Additionally, the 12-point assessment is a visual non-invasive analysis with thermal imaging performed by our experts.

How can I monitor the efficiency of my solar panels?

Most solar systems have monitoring systems that track energy production. A decrease in output might indicate dirty panels.
